Internship Fridays: Students explore IT roles

Lately, Fridays at EFD are slightly different than usual. A group of 3rd year students from Varaždin’s Faculty of Organisation and Informatics (FOI) joined us for the five-week Friday internship, lasting between April 18 and May 16.
What does the Friday internship look like?
Before noon, students listen to presentations by our mentors that include hands-on examples and role-specific tasks. In the afternoon, they document what they learned that day. On the final Friday, they will use what they learned in solving a final task as a team. They will present their solution to a panel of mentors.
A glimpse into different IT roles
This 40-hour internship is an opportunity to explore different roles on an IT team - from Product Owner and Scrum Master, to Frontend, Backend and Fullstack developer and Automation Engineer. The goal is to have students see what working on real projects looks like, and which competencies and responsibilities are involved in each role.
Students were selected based on their motivation letters. On their first day, Marina Biro introduced them to the Group, our organization, and the product we are developing. From there, our mentors Maja Antolović, Martina Golub, Leon Lukman, Mislav Matijević, Matea Sokol, Monika Tenšić and Josipa Vresk took over.

We have been doing this internship program for the second year now. Last year, three out of five Friday interns landed their first job in our company, which is something we are really proud of. Now we are happy to welcome a new generation and give them the chance to learn more about our work and the typical jobs in tech. Some of them might join us in the future!
