Workshop Days at FOI: Lots of interaction and creativity in solution crafting

Workshop Days 2024 was a success! Third-year students showed knowledge and creativity in the Solution Crafting workshop, which we recently hosted at the Varaždin’s Faculty of organisation and informatics (FOI). Again, every seat at our workshop was taken. More people wanted to join than we could accommodate; we thought 18 seats would do it, but we managed to fit in two more.

Students were asked to work in groups and create a simple system that would manage potential customers and track their preferences in vehicles and dealerships. Additionally, this system was supposed to allow sales representatives to easily create, view, and manage contacts, making communication and follow-up with potential customers simple.

Our Marko Horvat, Dominik Hrastić, and Antonio Oletić presented the task and explained the criteria for successful completion. They were available throughout the workshop to answer questions and help with any uncertainties.

During the two-hour interactive workshop, students went through all stages of programming - from the user story and acceptance criteria to developing a simple prototype covering both the frontend and backend of the application. In the end, they presented their solutions and received feedback from mentors.

Choosing the best team wasn't easy because everyone had unique and excellent solutions!

Workshop Days is an event organized by FOI, featuring a week of intensive workshops covering professional and hot topics such as team management, Scrum, UX, AI, databases, and more. It is one of the must-attend events at FOI, offering an opportunity for students to gain practical skills and knowledge and connect with potential employers.
